Masks of things we are afraid of....
I have been meaning to post these for a while now. I finally got around to doing it. I have 4 more weeks of graduate school.

More Student Work - protozoa
The students are learning about Tetrahymena in their science classes. We were able to devise a co-curricular art project that they can hang in their science room.
This was one of the more fun challenges of student teaching so far. Here are some of their pieces.

Student Teaching and Fall
I haven't updated in quite a while.
Our nice fall picnic plan was foiled by bees.
So, fall is here, my favorite season, and I am currently doing student teaching at the elementary school level. I have been enjoying it very much. I have been super busy. It is nice to have the end of my student career in view. Here are some pieces by the students from the recent weeks. They are currently working on scary masks. Those won't be done for a couple of weeks.
The first set of pictures are book covers the 4th graders had to design for their ELA portfolios. The subject was imaginary creatures. There are so many good ones it is hard to choose.
The second set are some 5th graders' pieces about role models. They all interpreted the subject in different ways. Some made a more narrative picture and others went more abstract. All of them were great.
I haven't really had time to make my own artwork.

Studio
So I tried to make a studio out of the dining room. That lasted all of 2 weeks. I did go to the printmaking studio and work on some new prints this past week. They are probably the only things I'm proud of from this summer. I'll post images soon...once they are dry.
Also, it is almost time to bind a new sketchbook.

Metals
Above is my work in the Metalsmith Student League show. I have posted about most of them before. My four pieces are all clustered on the right. The image on the right is the postcard for the show.
It was fun learning to work in metal. I don't know if I will continue.

Recent Sketchbook Pages
I haven't gotten a chance to make any large works lately. I have a list of projects I've been meaning to work on. Hopefully, I can make some progress before the summer is out. Some of these projects include screen printing grass, creating a monochromatic fuchsia portrait, and a personal website(!) (we shall see). In the meantime, here are some unseen pages from my recently finished sketchbook (2011 - 2012). Time to bind a new book and ready it for some abuse.
Cover revisited.
